The big size (up to 4 feet tall), blue-grey color and white on top of the head field mark this heron. This was the first time I saw one standing on my raft.
It is a late afternoon high-tide and this hungry Snowy Egret walks along the shore looking for small fish and aquatic plants. But there are a lot less small fish swimming around this habitat at low-tide compared to high-tide, and the Snowy Egret does not
From my observations the Great Blue Heron usually stands with neck erect. But this bird caught my attention with the folded neck and its head on shoulders. Blue-gray color and white on the head field mark this large heron.
That is a Great Egret flying by in this video and the Great Blue Heron follows it to another rock. Sometimes miscalled a crane, the folded neck in flight indicate a heron.
The yellow feet and slender black bill mark this small white heron. We get a good look at the golden slippers as this one walks about egretTVland looking for small fish.
It is a mid-afternoon low-tide so we do not see any feeding by this Great Egret. But it is a spectacular late summer day and this one takes in some sun and hops around on the rocks. The yellow bill and black legs mark this white heron.
Big size, gray color and white about the head field mark this heron. This bird migrates from Canada to S.America and for the next 2 months occasionally one will land in egretTVland for feeding.
In the calm morning low-tide, 2 Great Egrets and 2 Snowy Egrets
This habitat has seen a lot of egrets this week. Good weather, early morning low-tides (extreme due to full moon), and plenty of fish make for a superb feeding location.
