Year in Review - Seagull plays in the wind



Gulls are long-winged and supurb fliers. This Ring-Billed Gull plays in the 40 mph winds of the April Noreaster that slammed the Thimbles.

Sea of Mallards



They fly together too. The female is mottled brown with a white tail.

Baby it's cold outside and the ducks are back



Field marks for the male Mallard are the green head and white neck-ring. This is not their normal habitat but when the temperature turns bitter cold and the local ponds freeze, the ducks swim by.

Seagulls eat seaweed on the rocks



Field mark for this dovelike gull is the black ring encircling the bill. Notice the pale greenish legs (not pink) of the one walking on the rock.
