Earlier a steady SW wind at 30 knots kicked up the Sound waves. But by late afternoon winds shifted toW and calmed things down considerably for the incoming tide.

Advection fog occurs when moist air passes over a cool surface by wind and is cooled. Record breaking 60 degrees F for this day in January and cold Sound water creates a picturesque foggy scene.
